I stay close to home now. I was not quite four but I still remember you wrapping one hand around both my wrists, lifting me off the ground, and spanking my bottom because I slipped down the block to Dicena Searles' house. Lesson well learned. Daddy, you left too soon. I miss you so.

Grandmama,
Because you left in February of '47 and I was born in June, I only know you from stories passed on by my mother. They were just snippets really but her memories of you allowed me to feel a kinship. I'm honored to be your namesake.
